HAUNTED COLLEGE

The following is a report from a recent investigation of an old college in the United States. This school has thousands of reports of paranormal activity. Many of the building on campus are original and date back to the mid-1800's. The school prides itself in its antique buildings. Ghost stories abound at the school, and most of the students have had some kind of experience that they can not explain.

Following a lecture at the college, John Zaffis and myself led a group of over 200 students on a four-hour long group investigation of particularly active buildings on campus. The two groups split up and walked towards opposite ends of the campus. The student groups held believers and non-believers in spiritual phenomenon. The goal of this informal investigation was to determine through video and photography if there was any validity to the reports of phenomenon occurring in specific buildings on campus.

Usually in large groups, very little paranormal activity will occur. It is typically in small groups that most activity will occur. However, many people experienced things throughout the evening that they could not logically explain.

One dorm was supposedly haunted by the spirit of a girl who committed suicide in the dorm decades earlier. Objects were reported to be taken from the locked rooms of the residents, and would later be found in the attic of the dorm by the maintenance staff. Residents would hear banging and footsteps coming from the locked attic. College staff described feeling dread and terror when they would go into the attic. The school finally decided to close off the attic completely. John, Brendan, and a few staff members of the college went into the attic. Ghost lights could be seen in the cold attic, and the thick feeling of spirit activity was described by most present.

In one of the original buildings on the campus, I was standing in front of the group of students in the lobby waiting for another building to be opened. I saw from my right peripheral vision a brown-haired girl walking towards me. I thought this might be a student asking me a question. I turned to my right, and saw that there was in fact no one there.

After the investigation, many of the students shared psychic photography that they captured on digital cameras during the four hour investigation. Many students described feeling unexplained cold spots and the feeling that their hair was standing up in many buildings.

After the group dispersed, John and I were brought into a museum on campus which dated back to the 1700's and was now used as a museum. A security guard escorted us around the house, and said that they refuse to check that building after dark. The building had many reports of tragic deaths through the decades. An upstairs room had a particular feeling of unease felt by all present. After walking out of the room, 10 or 11 loud bangs could be heard emanating from the walls of the room. There were no people present in the room during that time. We all went back into the room, and the banging stopped. Walking out of the room a second time, the banging started up again.

Video, photography, and unexplained noises and visions suggest that the stories of some of the hauntings of this historic college are substantiated. A full formal investigation would be needed to fully determine the extent and validity of the haunting at this college.
