Any moderate quality 35mm auto focus camera - The lower quality cameras tend to generate more errors and lower quality photos. Auto focus is a must considering that a majority of pictures are taken in the dark and on a spur of the moment basis.

Many psychic photographs are captured on digital cameras. The clarity that digital photos provide allow for better analysis of psychic photography.

Digital cameras equipped with infrared nightvision (eg. Sony) give investigators the ability to record without any light.

A portable tape recorder will be useful for both jotting notes and attempting to capture events on audio.

Digital audio recorders allow researchers to capture high quality EVP's. Along with computer programs to clean up audio files, digital audio can provide great evidence of a haunting.

These are excellent for the not-so-psychic people who need to know when a spirit is around. Also good when used in conjunction with audio/video recordings for an audible alarm. Don't depend too heavily on these units though.

Trifield meters are becoming a more popular choice over the standard 'digital' emf detectors. These are certainly more sensitive as well (which can be a bad thing if you don't know how to use it).

A DVR recorder equipped to handle at least 4 cameras with infrared cameras can help to cover a large area easily. DVR recorders usually record for long period of time. This system can be expensive, but it is very valuable for evidence collection.

A digital laser thermometer is a good tool for measuring surface temperatures and recording temperature gradients throughout the night.

A digital multi-use thermometer is a great tool for measuring ambient air temperature and recording temperature changes throughout the night.

Most investigations occur during the hours of 6PM to 6AM, flashlights are a necessity. Try to use a small, powerful flashlight that can be worn on the belt, like a MiniMag light.

When attempting psychic photography, the more roles of film used, the better the chance of capturing psychic Images. A typical investigator will go through 1-4 rolls per night depending on amount of activity taking place. Use film types appropriate as normal photography standards would apply. 400-1000 ASA film would be optimal for nighttime shooting.

Items such as holy water and a Crucifix have proven to be essential when dealing with evil spirits. If you are of a different religious background, use your appropriate items.

Bring plenty of spare batteries, they tend to drain themselves quickly during investigations. Ensure you bring spares of all the different size batteries you are using.
